It’s A Scammer’s Paradise
they have found a new haven of opportunity…
Cybercrime isn’t new and people have been falling victim to it for years. Still, a disturbing new trend is emerging locally as more people are discovering e-commerce and the convenience of online payments.
Recently, local e-commerce favourite OneDayOnly experienced a data breach as reported by MyBroadband. Russian hacker group KillSec (Kill Security) claims to have obtained private contact information, account contact details, and payment methods.
This is a worrying revelation as e-commerce is still in its infancy in South Africa when you compare its activity in first-world countries.
Even though we have one of the most sophisticated banking systems in the world here, e-commerce payments, tokenization and security capabilities still have a long way to go in curbing the possibilities for fraud and identity theft.
I still believe that e-commerce is the future and I saw the potential the industry had back in 2013. Consumers just need to be smart and stay alert online.

Artist Spotlight: Elmiene
pronounced ‘el-mean’
I recently discovered this RnB/Soul artist from the UK and I immediately fell in love with his vocal ability and musicality.
Scrolling through TikTok, I came across a snippet of his song ‘Light Work’ which dropped on 19 August and it’s been on repeat ever since.
His live project aptly titled ‘Live From 525’ is an audio gem that takes you on a melodic journey with a mixture of original songs and covers.

He is about to embark on a ‘World Tour’ which we all know is just the US, UK and Europe 🙄
But alas, here is his latest single ‘Light Work'
