According to reports from Mozilla and AI Forensics, the TikTok Lite app lacks many of the basic user protections seen on the regular TikTok app.

The app is largely used outside of the US and Europe and even though it might help save battery life and work better on more budget devices, it is not necessarily your best friend.

TikTok Lite makes up nearly half of the platform’s global user base but gives users less control over what they see with no warnings about content that might be harmful or offensive.

Another feature that is notably missing is screen-time controls that can help curb misinformation and tech addiction.

AI Forensics also notes that even though TikTok was one of the first platforms to give users the ability to make content as AI-generated, the Lite version of the app doesn’t have this feature making it easier for people to get fooled by content if they aren’t looking out for it and this is a big security risk on its own.

Stacked Announcements From Comic Con

from RDJ to new announcements across various franchises

San Diego Comic Con was stacked as always this year with announcements and trailers from some major studios and the crowds in attendance at the panels got a show for sure. I will be there one day 🙏

Let’s kick it off with the major announcements from Marvel. Oh, how divided the internet is over that unveiling of Robert Downey Jr. as Victor Von Doom.

Also, the Russo Brothers have come back into the fold to direct both new Avengers movies. Avengers Doomday and Avengers Secret Wars.

Now DC was a little more low-key with their announcements and James Gunn said he wouldn’t be at Comic Con because he is intensely busy with the new Superman movie.

We saw the new Penguin trailer, a show developed for HBO Max starring Colin Farrell as the main character alongside Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone.

The Batman 2 starring Robert Pattinson was announced to be commencing principal photography in early 2025 after the success of the first film. Looking forward to this one.

All the Mortal Kombat fans got a really special announcement with news of new DLC dropping in the form of Khaos Reigns. A new baddie is on the scene and he looks OP!

There are also some new characters dropping like T-1000 from Terminator, Arnie as Conan and Ghostface from Scream. Other old franchise faves are coming too. We’re talking Cyrax, Sektor and Noob Saibot.
